Until The Seaside Beckons (for Rachel)

If I may silently watch the seaside
As it beckons towards
Unfathomable depths until it consumes the breath
Desperately within an inch of my heart's unrest
Shadows flicker like apparitions of a beautifully
Familiar sort

If this moment with you seems to linger too long
Forgive me for wanting to reach behind your scented glow
Listening to the sighs commonly found in the morning
Of our after
The words you left behind stare much promise
Where we wind up shouting in the rain

The way you looked as your cocktail dress fell
Became the fabric of our re-discovered youth
When dreams were wide and the woman
You never met kisses you good night
On your wedding day deathbed

Invisible walls shatter as the ocean recedes
Roaring welcome in blissful ears
Amid the din of birthing Dawn
