In the deep of night it seems
I felt your presence near
Did you reach down from heaven
And brush away a tear?
Did you lay your hand on my brow
And gaze upon my face?
Reminding me of the love we shared
That has not been replaced
Maybe I was dreaming
And if only that is true
I find comfort knowing that
When I sleep I can still feel you
Though others have tried to win my heart
No good did it do
For I will not settle for anything less
Than what I shared with you
If I cannot feel honest trust
More happiness than pain
If I cannot feel the selflessness
Then alone I will remain
For I would rather be alone
Live only with myself
Than live my life, yet feel alone
When shared with someone else
I do not pine away for you
You wouldn't want me to
But I still cherish and keep this safe,
My memory of you.
